    Learning How to Pray

    Tate has began to pray on her own and she is teaching me a few things about how to go about it.

    Praying the Divine Office/Hours

    One of the things I've found to aid my spiritual growth and awareness of Christ is to pray the divine hours as others have in the monastic tradition for hundreds of years. Over the last month, slowly I've been able to reorient my schedule to add more of the hours to my daily schedule to pray. It's been a blessing to observe compline before I sleep for the night and to observe the divine liturgy of Terce, Sext, and None throughout the day. I've found a great resource to aid me in my pursuit. It's titled "Benedictine Daily Prayer: A Short Breviary." For my needs it is more than thorough. It took me a bit to even dig through it and learn what to read when, but I'm slowly catching on and as I do my soul is more at peace and I pray my life is being transformed more and more into the image of Christ, for his glory, my blessing, and to see his kingdom come.     Invisible Children

    There are atrocities and injustices running rampant against children daily in many parts of the world. Three young men decided to do something about it with the recording and documentation of what is occurring in Northern Uganda. The Lord's Resistance Army continually abducts young children to do their fighting for them. It is a agonizing issue that the US government acknowledges but hasn't chosen to significantly do anything about. This Saturday the 29th in every major city thousands of people are choosing to walk and congregate to draw attention to the fact that thousands of young people nightly commute to refuge havens where they have some sense of safety from the LRA. The movie is moving and powerful.
