I'm a Beloved "Son," husband to my best friend, father to two beautiful girls, friend to the orphan and those facing poverty. A wannabe monk who loves the pace of life that accompanies putting around in a '66 VW bus. We live in Santa Cruz, CA.

Found this tonight on facebook via @Jonathan Serrins and have an appreciation for Preacha-Poet and what they seem to be doing for the homeless out at Skid Row (Los Angeles, CA) with the jonah
project (jonahproject.org).
This video is was shared with me by a family member who lives in AZ. Their church actively participates in this program. It is encouraging to see the collective church
partnering and serving the homeless together as one "body." We used to have something like this in Santa Cruz in the form of the Interfaith Satellite Shelter Program started in 1986. Up until a few years ago, a number of churches were still participating in it.
How encouraging would it be once again to have it start up and serve the community, if enough churches were willing. What holds the church back from engaging and leveraging one of the greatest assets they have, a building to serve those who don't have a safe place to lay their head?
Last Sunday, CompassionSC facilitated an outreach opportunity for Faith Community Churchh to distribute needed items to the homeless, many of them were young adults living on the streets without consistent shelter or a home. FCC accompanied and came alongside Ronee Curry on Pacific Ave and her weekly outreach in front of Border's Bookstore in Santa Cruz, CA. It was a significant time to continue to build relationships with those in need in SC as sleeping bags, socks, bottled water, "beanies of hope" and food was distributed. The homeless community was blessed, Ronee was supported in her ministry, and the church was challenged to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Santa Cruz.
On Wednesdays I've been going down to hang out and support Ronee Curry who leads an outreach ministry to homeless street youth and others. She has been serving the homeless and the street youth for six years now. We are in the process of working with a number of churches in Santa Cruz, CA to pull together a sleeping bag drive for those in need to be distributed through her ministry. Below are a couple of pictures from today.
